New York attorneys have a new CLE requirement each 2 year compliance period. In addition to the 4 hours of legal ethics, New York attorneys must now complete at least one hour of Diversity, Inclusion & Elimination of Bias. The new requirement does NOT increase the total number of required hours. That still remains at 24.
What is the new Diversity, Inclusion and Elimination of Bias CLE requirement?
Experienced New York attorneys must complete at least 1 CLE credit hour in the Diversity, Inclusion and Elimination of Bias CLE category of credit as part of their biennial CLE requirement.
The topics that may be addressed that qualify for this new type of credit include: diversity, inclusion and elimination of bias based on, for example, race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age or disability.
